HYDRA - Projects at MPAe, Lindau
People and Data:
Axel Korth and Chris Mouikis
Reiner Friedel and Geoff Reeves (Apr-Oct 97 only)
HYDRA, CEPPAD and CAMMICE from POLAR
HEP on GEOTAIL
CIS on EQUATOR-S and PHOENIX
Projects Current and Planned:
- Long term investigation of particle budged in the radiation belts using HYDRA, CEPPAD (and CAMMICE) for the POLAR mission to date - (Friedel, Korth). Invited talk at COSPAR Upsala.
- A Study of open/closed field line boundaries as seen by energetic (CEPPAD) and plasma particles (HYDRA) at high magnetic latitudes and their control by
solar wind parameters (Fennell, Friedel, CCR Science Thrust, paper at EGS'97
Vienna, AGU Spring 97 Baltimore).
- Study of boundary crossings to determine source populations in the boundary layers using HYDRA and CAMMICE composition (Mouikis, Korth)
- Characterization of statistical boundary morphology as a function of magnetic latitude using HYDRA (Moukis, Korth, Friedel)
- Traceback of particle injection signatures from both HYDRA and CEPPAD during substorms in time-varying magnetic and electric field drift models (Toivannen, Friedel, Pulkinnen).
HYDRA - Projects at LANL, Los Alamos
People and Data:

Michelle Thompson, Joe Borovsky and others (NIS-1)
CEDDAD, CAMMICE (and HYDRA) on POLAR
EP and MPA on LANL geostationary
EP on GPS
Projects Current and Planned:
- Investigation of storm-time particle injections with an emphasis on multi-spacecraft observations observing the temporal change of the particle population across a wide energy range at various MLT using LANL, GPS and POLAR.
(Reeves, Friedel, Fennell, Baker, Henderson)
